2022 Arizona International Auto Show Review

2022 Arizona International Auto Show Review

This 2022 Arizona International Auto Show Review was what I remember about how Auto Shows are staged to showcase the vehicles in their best light. This event was from November 24 – November 27, 2022, inside the Phoenix Convention Center. I think most people were expecting to see more brands displayed at this Auto Show however things have changed post-Covid in this event too.

Many of the shoppers I spoke with still enjoy the thought of having the opportunity to walk around, touch, feel and smell the leather of most of the vehicles that you might not otherwise ever have the opportunity to experience any other way without feeling guilty or threatened by some pushy Salesperson at a dealership.

2022 Mercedes Benz AMG SL63 Roaster

The AMG SL63 uses the same twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 With a horsepower of 577 base price of $179,150. 00.

I do give the guys and gals a 5 Star from the Arizona International Auto Show Team for a great job in presenting what they had to work with. Their Team of Presenters and others were very professional in playing their needed roles helping to make things run smoothly.

However, I could see that some of them were a little shy about approaching and engaging the people walking by…at a loss for words you might say :-)!

I also must express my disappointment to see that there were no Salespeople there to engage and represent the Local Dealerships and the locals visiting the show. How did Salespeople become irrelevant!? I also discovered that a number of manufacturers and dealers had made the decision that their presence was not needed.

Not to mention the whole roping off the ‘Don’t Touch Me Vehicles’ thing…yeah that’s really inviting!

I think that this action takes away from the whole idea of ‘The Auto Show Experience’ being a springboard to visiting the local dealerships. However, I can see the Dealer and Manufacturer’s positions to value it totally differently than 10 years ago!

Maybe it’s that kind of thinking that has been slowly killing the Showroom Buying Experience and the benefits it offers to the buyer.

People are buying cars through Vending Machines and I need to know why that seems to be Okay with New Car Dealers and Manufacturers! Maybe it looks good from the outside…however, retraining the behavior of Salespeople is a better option in my opinion!

Because I spent decades selling cars I know what the problem is and after I came across an article written by AutoTrader that confirmed the reality of what’s going on with car shoppers’ experience around the country. On March 31, 2015 – AutoTrader released a Press Release News Wire referencing the Car Buyer of the Future.

In the report, they referenced that Only 17 Out Of 4002 people prefer the current car buying process, and the rest wanted significant changes, particularly in the test drive, deal structuring, financing paperwork, and service phases. That may be true, however, why are you leaving them out of the buying process when they are the real connecting point between the manufacturers and the buyers?

So when people ask me how we realized that it is best to leave the Car Salespeople out of the process and it is the answer to a better car buying experience, I say BS! Retraining the Salespeople with a better approach to selling is what is needed. #CarsDoNotHaveFeelings
